The nursery sale was an event which was held throughout the Vendée until the 1980s. Its principle consisted of collect donations then to them auction to support local action, often linked to the parish.
In Aizenay, the Council of Elders, under the direction of Martine Remaud, perpetuates this tradition which is dying out in the rest of the department. Since 2006, volunteers have brought this activity back to life, which had stopped for almost two decades.
“It’s a charity sale, 50% for the parish and 50% for another association. This year it will be SNSM 85 and its six lifeguard stations at sea,” explains Martine Remaud. To participate, simply donate, buy, or do both!
Auctions in the church
Food donations are also greatly appreciated. Cakes, bottles, eggs, honey and jams are welcome. Donors can drop off their food packages at the Saint-Benoît church in Aizenay, from Saturday January 11, from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the Elders on duty.
The collection will continue on the day of the sale, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., before mass at the same location. The auction will begin at 11:50 a.m. in the church, open to anyone from Aizenay or the surrounding area. “Not just the parishioners,” specify the organizers.
The last sale at the crèche raised 856 €. “This operation falls within the framework of our missions,” explain the Sages. “We are the only ones to do it at the level of community of communes Vie et Boulogneone of the last municipalities in the department. We want to perpetuate and revive our traditions. »
