“The luxury occasion is not a fad, it’s more than that.” A seasoned collector of luxury bags, Lisa Bettini has established herself today as a scout of vintage gems, and a renovator of leather and jewelry. Just a year ago, she opened her workshop in the market district of Bastia and, a few months later, another in the 10th arrondissement of Paris.
“I have been working in secret for years, she confides. Already at 20 years old, when I noticed a scratch on my bag, it made me sick! So to fix all that, I started to get my hands dirty.”
Initially, Lisa Bettini was an actress and director of a communications agency, but little by little, her passion began to take over. It was during confinement that this Ajaccian decided to change course. Weeks of training follow with a professional who has worked with the biggest houses.
“We are not magicians”
Deconstruct a bag, learn about skins, understand jewelry… “Gradually, I tested these techniques on my bags, then on those of my friends and finally with a wider circle.”
Each bag requires on average two hours of work. “We are not magicians, we do not know the previous life of the bag, whether it received treatment or not, continues the craftswoman. We let's adapt to each article to try to bring out the best.”
If there is one exercise that Lisa especially appreciates, it is that of makeover : transform an item and give it a new look. His latest work: a seal bag with the famous monogram enhanced with a gold insert. “The client chose a metallic skin, which gives a great result! continues the leatherworker, It’s a unique bag and that’s what makes me love it!”
