Ah, France. Land of cheese, riots and… romance. At least, if we are to believe books, theater and cinema, in which love stories often take place in the streets of French cities.
Latest example: the American television film Love at First Sight at the Christmas Market, filmed in Rouen and which brings to the screen a romance between Jaicy Elliott (Grey's Anatomy) and Brant Daugherty (Pretty Little Liars).
But is France’s reputation as a “land of romanticism” justified? Or is this one of those myths that die hard? To find out, the Preply platform published a study on 41 cities in France.
Concretely, Preply has produced a ranking of the most romantic cities in France. For this, the platform was based on several criteria, such as the number of activities to do as a couple, jewelers and florists.
Preply also compared the number of romantic hotels and restaurants. The platform then reduced these indicators to the number of inhabitants, to take into account the size of the cities, and obtained a score from 1 to 100.
Several cities obtained a score above 70, which designates them as little corners of paradise for lovers. Here are the 5 towns at the top of the ranking of the most romantic cities.
