In Luxembourg: Moselle on flood alert this Tuesday

The entered yellow flood alert level on Monday at 4 p.m. The alert is valid until this Tuesday at 4 p.m. “Water levels on the Moselle did not increase as much as expected overnight and are currently reaching their maximum level,” specifies the Water Management Administration. In Stadtbredimus, water levels are currently stagnant at around 520 cm and are therefore below the reporting height of 530 cm. Water levels will drop again afterwards.”

Due to the forecast precipitation, however, a further rise in water levels on the Moselle can be expected in the coming days, the authorities add.

On Monday, no major overflow was reported, after the orange alert for potential floods was triggered on Sunday. On the Alzette side, the orange vigilance rating was exceeded at Pfaffenthal or even at Mersch during the night from Sunday to Monday, while at Ettelbruck, the water level rose to one centimeter below of the red vigilance rating (230 cm). La Sûre has exceeded the orange vigilance rating in Diekirch.
