For five years, the number of traditional catering businesses has been declining in the department. According to the statistical observatory of commercial court clerks, almost 200 traditional restaurants have permanently closed their doors (i.e. an average of 30 annually since 2019). In Mont-de-Marsan, for example, since 2021, 25 traditional restaurant brands have lowered their curtains. In the same time frame, only five have opened their tables.
Fast food is taking off
