However, if he finds himself before the criminal chamber of the judicial court, it is also because three days previously, he was guilty of the same acts, this time near Intermarché, in Agen. But that was without counting on the vigilance of the security agents, who had spotted this “client’s” behavior thanks to video surveillance.
“I only did that twice,” certifies this Algerian national, who had also provided a false identity at the time of his arrest. “No, you were caught twice,” explains the president. And why steal these products which are not essential? » The 31-year-old defendant, whose words are translated by an interpreter into Arabic, indicates that he planned to resell the goods on markets, to earn some money.
Facts of “light nature”
Arriving in France in 2022, homeless and sometimes working in agriculture or construction without being declared, the thirty-year-old is also known in Gironde and near Marseille, in other legal proceedings under his different aliases. “You have no papers, no wife or child here, you provide an uncertain identity: why stay in France if you do not respect the rules? », asks the judge.
Regretting that the defendant did not respect the conditions of his assignment to Marmande, the representative of the public prosecutor requested one year of imprisonment and five years of ban on stay on French territory. The defendant was ultimately sentenced to six months in prison and kept in detention following the hearing.
