The entire Ile-de-France region is also placed on yellow alert this Wednesday and Thursday.rain-flood“. This heavy rain alert should be lifted in Île-de-France on January 9 from 4 p.m.
Due to the recent rains and these new precipitations expected in France, around thirty departments are also placed in yellow vigilance “raw“. This is the case of Manche, Calvados, Eure, Seine-Maritime, Oise, Aisne, Ardennes, but also Vosges, Côte-d'Or, Doubs, Sarthe, Cher, Charente-Maritime and even Jura.
But then, what is the situation Paris and Île-de-France ? This Wednesday and Thursday, seven Ile-de-France departments are also placed by Météo France in yellow alert “raw“. It is about Parisof the Hauts-de-Seineof the Seine-Saint-Denisof Val-de-Marneof Val-d'Oiseof the Yvelines and the Seine-et-Marne. Enough to raise new concerns among the inhabitants of Seine-et-Marne. Remember, last October, this department of Île-de-France – then placed on red alert – experienced historic floods. The Grand Morin had reached a record level of 3.75 meters. The streets of the town of Crécy-la-Chapelle were found under more than a meter of water.
But this time, the level of the Grand Morin is, for the moment, not worrying. On the other hand, the Seine and the Marne are particularly monitored.
As recalled Vigicruesthe yellow vigilance is a “risk of flooding generating overflows and localized damage or a rapid and dangerous rise in water levels, requiring particular vigilance, particularly in the case of exposed and/or seasonal activities“.
Due to heavy rain expected in Île-de-France this Wednesday and Thursday, the Seine in Paris and its surroundings is therefore closely scrutinized. “Further more significant rain will begin during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. The underlying trend for the coming days is therefore upwards.“warns Vigicrues in its bulletin of the day, specifying that it is however “of a low flood“. This January 8 in the morning, the Seine reached 3.05 meters at the Austerlitz station. According to the forecasts of Vigicruesthe Seine could reach 3.17 meters on the morning of January 9, at this same station (central forecast), or even 3.39 meters (high forecast).
The Marnefrom Condé and Charenton, is also monitored. “Further rain is expected from Tuesday night to Wednesday. Consequently, new flood waves should be observed on the downstream section and tributaries of the Marne in the days to come.“, indicates Vigicrues. At the Gournay-sur-Marne station, the specialized site observed a height of 3.53 meters in the Marne this Wednesday morning.
