Kolda, Jan 6 (APS) – Students from the Assane Seck University branch of Ziguinchor in Kolda (South) declared an indefinite strike on Monday to protest against the closure of their restaurant and their poor study conditions. .
“(…) we have to go back to school today, and now our restaurant is closed. We have students who come from other regions and how can they feed themselves if our restaurant remains closed?” asked Éric Adolphe Diédhiou, the president of the UASZ student association in Kolda.
He deplored the difficulties that residents of the UASZ in Kolda encounter in studying and receiving treatment.
“We also have a serious problem studying like our other classmates. We have connection problems, and we cannot study seriously and even do research,” lamented Mr. Diédhiou. He also pointed out that students are facing a problem with medical care.
“And for all these questions, we have sent correspondence to the authorities [qui sont restées] without further action,” he said during a press briefing, surrounded by hundreds of students.
Students at the UASZ branch in Kolda did not return to classes this Monday. Their strike comes after the disturbances noted a few weeks ago at the Assane Seck University of Ziguinchor.
