The Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication launched the “Video Game Creator” program on Monday January 6, 2025 at the International University of Rabat (UIR). Dedicated to video game development professions, this ambitious program will train 40 young Moroccans, with the aim of strengthening the gaming industry in the Kingdom.

The result of a partnership between the ministry, the French embassy in Morocco, the UIR and the French school ISART Digital, this initiative is part of the Declaration of Intent signed last October under the aegis of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and President Emmanuel Macron. This declaration aims to structure and promote the cultural and creative ecosystem of video games.

Spanning nine months, from January to October 2025, the training aims to develop the technical and managerial skills of participants, while positioning Morocco as a key player in gaming on the African and international scene. Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, stressed that this program reflects the potential of partnerships between Euro-African institutions and highlights the importance of gaming as a creative and cultural sector.

Agnès Humruzian, cooperation and cultural action advisor at the French embassy and director of the French Institute of Morocco, recalled the considerable opportunities offered by the video games sector. Located at the crossroads of technological and cultural issues, it constitutes a platform for promoting cultural diversity and strengthening the employability of young people. For her part, Karin Houpillart, co-founder and co-director of ISART Digital, stressed that Morocco, thanks to its talents and its rich cultural heritage, has a unique chance to become a major player in this industry. .

The program is based on a strategic collaboration between three institutions: ISART Digital, ranked among the best game development schools in the world, which brings its academic expertise; the UIR, which hosts training on its campus; and the Higher Institute of Audiovisual and Cinema Professions, which provides the necessary infrastructure.

In an inclusive approach, participants benefit from full coverage of tuition fees, which are often prohibitive in this area. Accommodation solutions and employment opportunities are also provided, thus reducing social and territorial inequalities and allowing these young talents to devote themselves fully to their learning.

This program marks a turning point for the development of the gaming industry in Morocco, paving the way for a structured and sustainable ecosystem, capable of attracting international studios and investors, while promoting the cultural and creative assets of the Kingdom.
