However, in the Pantheon of his memories, the peak of his career dates back to last summer: “I was chief doctor of the Olympic and Paralympic Games at the CNTS. It's extraordinary because experiencing the Games in Châteauroux when you're from Indre (Argenton) is something extraordinary. The JOPs are only once every four years, I will probably never do them again. »

At the head of a medical service of around thirty people, he was able to enjoy some magical moments with athletes from all countries: “I remember the Turkish shooter with his hand in his pocket… Those who left the biggest impression on me nevertheless remain the paratireurs. Managing to manage sporting pressure at the same time while overcoming your handicap is simply impressive. Notably Tanguy De La Forest, unforgettable! »

At the end of this magical summer, Xavier Roy continued with his new functions: “I now spend 60% of my time at Arcachon hospital where I joined a rehabilitation and sports medicine department at the beginning of October. I had fallen into a form of routine in Châteauroux and I needed a new challenge. » He has not completely cut the link with Berry where he still performs “one call per month in the emergency room and six days per month at the follow-up care and rehabilitation center (CSSR)”.
As he doesn't really like gaps in his schedule, Xavier Roy found a way to intervene with the Arcachon football team, “at the request of the coach, a former Berrichonne player, Marvin Esor. The team plays in N3 and can claim access to N2”.
He also frequents the high level since he is an integral part of the French Federation: “I was very recently appointed to be part of the FFF medical commission in my capacity as an emergency physician. » Under the responsibility of the two chief doctors of the FFF, Emmanuel Orhant and Jean-François Chapellier, the objective of this structure of a dozen people consists of “think about improving the treatment of pathologies of players on the French teams and propose protocols. We can, for example, look at the subject of concussions or even imagine a standard suitcase for emergency interventions on the ground, in which we will find what we need to act in the event of serious discomfort, carry out an infusion or an injection of adrenaline. Ultimately, all professional and then amateur clubs could be equipped with them.”

Another mission that is close to his heart while bringing him closer to Châteauroux: the French beach soccer team, for which he has been providing medical monitoring for three years now. “All A and U20-U23 internationals will come to Châteauroux for a week in February to carry out a whole battery of pre-season medical tests. » The idea is to link Châteauroux and the beach more and more clearly: “The FFF will create a French beach center and choose a location this year. There are other applications, notably in Normandy, but the structure of the Plaine des sports has no equivalent. »
With the future departure of the CTR to Orléans, accommodation for young people from this center would be provided in the premises of Blanche-de-Fontarce: “Local politicians have already made progress on the issue, but I am sure that we could make a Clairefontaine of beach soccer here, or even of all sand sports. » This is good news as his dynamism proves to be precious, Xavier Roy will never bring himself to leave Indre completely.
