In the Dyle basin, the pre-alert phase was maintained until mid-afternoon. This pre-alert concerned in particular the municipalities of Wavre and Court Saint-Étienne, crossed by the Dyle.

“The light precipitation during the second part of the night in the Dyle watershed had the effect of slightly increasing the flow rates and above all keeping them above the pre-flood alert thresholds (localized flooding without severity) “, noted, in the morning, the hydrometry service of the Walloon Region.

Pre-alert lifted in the Dyle basin

The flood warning in the Dyle basin was lifted at 3:21 p.m. “The peak flow on the Dyle was reached early in the morning on Monday and the flow has now begun to decrease which is expected to continue in the days to come. Although the arrival of a new area of expected rain risks slowing down this decrease with a possible brief increase in flow during the day on Tuesday, the pre-alert threshold should no longer be crossed, justifying the lifting of the pre-alert phase.

In Wavre (Bierges), at 12:10 p.m., the Dyle reached a height of 1.68 meters after having reached 1.92 meters at 1:30 a.m. (compared to 0.7 before the flood). The trend observed at this time of the day was a drop in water level.

During the floods of July 16, 2021, the Dyle reached a height of 3.78 meters in Wavre.

Light rain is still expected in Walloon Brabant between noon and 1 p.m. and late afternoon.
