Profusion of colors, thunderous Caribbean musical atmosphere, crowds of carnival-goers… no doubt, the floats are back in Pointe-à-Pitre! For almost 20 years, we had not seen them, at the heart of local carnival festivities; the fear of possible excesses. But, on Sunday, the party was great and success assured, during the “Gwadloup opening carnival”, imported from Saint-Martin.

The first edition of theGwadloup opening carnival” opened the 2025 edition of the Guadeloupe carnival, in Pointe-à-Pitre, the first weekend of the year. This event was marked by the return of the floats to the city center, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., after almost 20 years of absence of these vehicles broadcasting Caribbean music and followed by a horde of carnival-goers.Fun Mas“, which aimed to celebrate Caribbean culture and the richness of our heritage, was a great success. Guadeloupeans, Dominicans, Saint-Martin residents and others were there and kiffé ! A relatively young audience.
It feels good, because that’s all there is to Dominica!

We've been working on the carnival in Saint-Martin for 14 years and we travel a lot to other carnivals in the Caribbean. So, today, our project is to highlight our Guadeloupean culture, but also our Caribbean culture. It’s going really well!
