This Monday, January 6, six hamlets in the commune of Sisco (Haute-Corse) are still without electricity. A situation which follows a general breakdown in the town of Cap-Corsine, which occurred at the end of the day, this Sunday, January 5. Are concerned: Pietrapiana, Barrigioni, Assalaccia, Ciprunascu, U Bussetu and Munacaghja. “The electricity was cut off on Sunday around 6:30 p.m. specifies Ange-Pierre Vivoni, the mayor. Around 11:30 p.m., it had been restored in two thirds of homes, thanks to the rapid and effective intervention of EDF agents.”

For the remaining six hamlets and their 200 inhabitants, power should be restored by the end of the day on Monday, according to EDF services.

Three “defects” including two localized

At the origin of the breakdown, three “defects” observed on junction boxes connecting underground cables. “It's a rare event, but it happens, underlines Mario Capai, chief of staff and head of communications and external relations at EDF SEI Corse. The cause has not yet been established. In this type of situation, there are three possibilities: underground subsidence, abnormal heating of these buried power strips and, in summer, too high a ground temperature.”

Of the three “defects” detected, so far only two have been precisely located. “We will have to dig 60 to 80 centimeters deep to be able to repair”continues the chief of staff.

An operation that could take a few days. Until then, electricity will be supplied by three generators.
