The storm Floriane crosses the north of the country this Monday, putting 14 departments, including the Meuse, on orange alert for violent winds. According to Météo France, gusts of 90 to 120 km/h are expected on soils already saturated with water, making infrastructure more vulnerable.

A brief but intense impact

The Meuse, already weakened by a wet winter, is particularly exposed to this episode described as “brief but intense” by meteorologists. Strong winds are expected to concentrate over a 2-3 hour period, potentially causing property damage and service interruptions.

Authorities are calling for caution: limit travel, secure outdoor objects and report any incident to emergency services. The first impacts are already visible, with tree falls reported in several municipalities in the department.

Seine-Maritime, Loire and Rhône also affected

Floriane does not stop at the Meuse: gusts exceeding 120 km/h have been recorded in Seine-Maritime, and departments such as Loire and Rhône are also affected. Increased vigilance therefore remains required throughout the northern half of the country.

The Meuse residents will have to wait until the end of Monday afternoon to hope for a return to calm. In the meantime, the instructions are clear: caution and anticipation.
