Since January 1, 2025, Murielle Bouchard replaced Françoise Thérin Dajon-Lamare as editor at the head of six titles of the News Group in Calvados: to know Liberty the free man, The Pays d’Auge, The Awakening of Lisieux, The Renaissance of Bessin, Caen side et Sports in Caen. “The editor is the conductor of a team of musicians, composed of different families of instruments”, image Murielle Bouchard. The journalist and sales teams have therefore had a new director for several days.
“We have to take care of the editorial, the partnerships, the public relations, the car fleet, the premises, the recruitment, the budgets for different sites or recently, the transition to monetization on the Internet…” continues Françoise Thérin Dajon-Lamare.
“Moving to take over from Françoise”
Since November, a handover has taken place between the two women. “Obviously, it's hard to hand over, to leave some of your babies, but I was lucky enough to be able to do it for two months with Murielle, who I had as editor-in-chief. It went very well and it was a pleasure,” says Françoise Thérin Dajon-Lamare.
The two women met for the first time in 2001 during a report in Caen. A few years later, they found themselves in the Bayeux editorial office, at La Renaissance. “Françoise allowed me to evolve as a manager at Actu, becoming deputy editor-in-chief at Renaissance, then editor-in-chief at Liberté in Caen, before I struck out on my own at 76 actu,” lists Murielle Bouchard.
It's moving to take over from Françoise and it's a real chance to continue the adventure with teams that I know well and exciting future projects.
More than four decades in journalism
Françoise is taking a well-deserved retirement. The adventure with journalism began in 1976at the age of 20, when the student at the French School of Communication Professions had done her first summer job at Freedom in Caen. At the beginning of the 1980s, she was recruited by the Caen title which had a departmental influence at the time.
Having become an editor in 2008, Françoise has continued to evolve within the Actu Group and in her profession, which she has done with energy and passion for more than four decades. “Discovering the publishing profession with my mentor for two months to support me was a real chance,” admits Murielle Bouchard. “I'm not going to stop writing,” concludes the young retiree, with a smile on her lips, with plenty of projects still in mind.
