The federal Conservative MP for Mégantic—L’Érable Luc Berthold announced on Sunday that he was suffering from prostate cancer.

The latter made the announcement in a Facebook publication.

“In 2024, I received the famous diagnosis [sic] which scares men over 50. My prostate is bad and she has cancer,” he wrote.

“However, I will need to be away for a few weeks to recover from the operation that will rid me of my diseased prostate,” he said.

Several Quebec members of the House of Commons offered their support for their colleague.

“We may have major disagreements in politics, but there is an enemy common to all: illness,” said Bloc Québécois leader Yves-François Blanchet, who also wished him a rapid recovery.

“May 2025 bring you all the courage and strength necessary to lead this fight,” wrote the MP for —La Mitis—Matane—Matapédia, Kristina Michaud, in the publication of Mr. Berthold. Take care of yourself and I hope to see you back in good shape soon!”

The Bloc member for Drummond, Martin Champoux, and the Conservative member for Charlesbourg—Haute-Saint-Charles, Pierre Paul-Hus, are among the other politicians who sent positive vibes to Mr. Berthold.
