The prefecture indicates, this Sunday, January 5, that Eure-et-Loir is placed on orange alert for violent winds by Météo France. This level of vigilance begins this Monday, January 6 from 6 a.m. and could end at 8 a.m. in the morning. The prefecture warns that violent winds are expected and that they could “reach 90 to 100 km/h and occasionally 110 km/h”.
“The soils, which are saturated with water following the rains of recent days, make the vegetation more sensitive to the wind,” add the state services.
Risks of power cuts
“Electricity and telephone outages can affect distribution networks for relatively long periods of time. Roofs and chimneys may be damaged and tree branches may break. Vehicles may be displaced. Road traffic disrupted , in particular on the secondary network in the forest zone”, informs the prefecture.
It is advisable to limit these movements, “particularly for those who drive a vehicle or team sensitive to the effects of the wind”. It is also recommended not to walk in the forest, not to work on roofs and not to touch electrical wires that have fallen to the ground.
