The Moroccan national team won a crushing victory (9-2) against Ukraine on Saturday evening, in the second round of the Kings League World Championship, which is currently taking place in Italy. Thanks to this victory, Morocco advances to the “Last Chance” phase.
Scalded by a defeat in the 1st round against Colombia (1-4), the Moroccan players came into play strongly, Nader Lawah opening the scoring in the first minute. He got the upper hand on his opponent in one-on-one play, capitalizing on the sport’s unique rules before his teammates joined the action.
Lawah doubled the lead in the 20th minute, but Denys Oliynyk managed to reduce the deficit shortly after. Lawah then completed his hat-trick, scoring a third goal for himself and the Moroccan team.
Seven minutes into the second half, veteran Zakaria Hadraf widened the gap for Morocco by scoring a fourth goal. Ukrainian Andriy Tsupa responded with his second goal, but Ashraf Saoud gave Morocco momentum again with a fifth goal in the 37th minute. The Moroccan team then added two more goals, each counting double according to the rules, to seal a decisive 9-2 victory.
With this success, Morocco enters the “last chance” phase and will meet Japan, who lost earlier in the day to Argentina (1-2).
Hosts Italy and Saudi Arabia left the tournament after suffering two consecutive defeats.
Note that Kings League matches are played in a specific format: seven players per team, two 20-minute halves, and unlimited substitutions.
The match begins with a one-on-one duel for one minute, after which the rest of the players gradually join in.
