First weekend of 2025 and first big cold snap in the north-east of France. We'll have to take out the down jackets, hats and scarves because 30 departments are placed on orange snow and ice vigilance this Saturday January 4 and temperatures will drop well below 0 degrees.
In Brittany, snow started to fall in Finistère, Côtes-d'Armor and Morbihan. The degradation, which is arriving from the west, will cross the north of the country in the next 24 hours. In addition to flakes, freezing rain will follow overnight from Saturday to Sunday and early evening in Île-de-France, from 6 p.m.
The temperature figures call out: – 4 degrees in Paris, – 9 in Colmar (Haut-Rhin), – 16 in Morteau and – 25 in Pontets (Doubs). “It was -23 at 7:15 a.m. The roads are a little snowy, the trees are all white. […] The nights are cool, we heat with wood, oil, we are well equipped,” Rémi, a resident of La Chaux (Doubs), told RTL.
This episode will, however, be very short and a mild spell should occur on Sunday. This has already been implemented in the west, it will then spread throughout the country. A good ten degrees should be gained and the snow will therefore not remain. Only the Pyrenees will see the sun by then.
