The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) announced on Thursday a series of appointments to positions within its decentralized services in the cities of Rabat, Essaouira, Marrakech, Oujda, Laâyoune, Tangier, Guercif and eastern Laâyoune. These designations “are part of a desire to inject new skills and exploit the potential of young and experienced executives”according to sources close to the institution.
These changes, validated by Abdellatif Hammouchi, director general of the DGSN, concern in particular the appointment of a new police station head in eastern Laâyoune and two district heads in Guercif and Tangier. Furthermore, officials have been designated to lead the traffic brigades in Rabat, Marrakech and Essaouira, in an effort to improve the management of this sensitive area.
In the judicial police and general intelligence services, several executives were also affected. In Oujda and Laâyoune, a criminal intelligence division head and an interim head of the anti-gang brigade have been appointed. In Oujda, a manager was placed at the head of a general intelligence unit, reflecting particular attention to regional security issues.
Ces nominations “are part of a logic of modernization and professionalization of the Moroccan security apparatus. The chosen managers belong to a new generation of executives, recognized for their expertise, probity and operational experience. Their main mission will be to guarantee rigorous application of the national security strategy which favors proximity to citizens, the quality of services and the openness of police institutions to their environment.according to the DGSN press release.
These recent designations “also reflect the DGSN’s commitment to strengthening the effectiveness of its structures while responding to current challenges in terms of public security”a-t-on souligné.
