According to a press release sent by the Résilience Montagne association, the luxury brand Moncler plans to organize a fashion show in mid-March on the natural site of Lac de la Rosière, in Courchevel Moriond. A Moncler delegation would have descended on the venue in December to begin to imagine the organization of the event.
The lake is in an area of ecological interest
The news of this possible parade caused some Courchevellois residents to react, who are opposed to the organization of such an event in an environmentally sensitive location. “According to our information, preparation for this event would require more than 15 days of construction work (snow removal, assembly and dismantling) so that guests, staff, journalists, etc. can access the site,” writes Résilience Montagne. “It appears that the lake is located, according to the Géoportail site, in a natural zone of ecological, fauna and flora interest”, continues the association, before questioning elected officials on the presentation of a municipal decree which would allow this type event and launch an online petition. Their feeling that many places in Courchevel already artificialized and cleared of snow are available seems to be shared on social networks.
Résilience Montagne is an association created with the aim, among other things, of gathering and popularizing information concerning global warming in the mountains, of alerting and finding solutions on the impacts of mountain stakeholders, of focusing on the causes and consequences of climate change.
When questioned, the Courchevel town hall informed that it had received a request from Moncler, the feasibility of which was being studied by the municipality. But to date, nothing has been validated or acted upon.
