Elections to the Aude Chamber of Agriculture: Ludovic Roux leads the FDSEA-JA union list in “continuity and renewal”

Coming to the top six years ago, the Departmental Federation of Farmers' Unions and Young Farmers list is once again playing the unity card. It is supported by cooperative winegrowers, independent winegrowers, the Aude winegrowers' union and the Aude breeders' union.

A page is turning within the FDSEA-JA list. After two terms as president of the Chamber of Agriculture of its candidate, Philippe Vergnes, it is the turn of Ludovic Roux, another winegrower, to seek this position and to campaign in the elections as head of the list. The president of the cooperative winegrowers of puts forward a union list “to provide the best possible service to farmers and bring together skills in all sectors”. The cooperative winegrowers, the independent winegrowers, the winegrowers' union, the agricultural work companies' union and the new Aude breeders' union are behind this list which wants “work in continuity” and ensure “renewal”. Because the challenges “are huge”. Between the climate crisis, socio-economic issues such as Mercosur (free trade agreement between South American countries and the European Union), the problem of generational renewal. “Our desire is to strengthen the role of elected officials and to be as close as possible to the needs of farmers.”

“We want to live at home, from our job”

With a slogan: “Profitability” hammered by Ludovic Roux. “This is our priority. And for this we have several levers. We must guarantee the capacity to produce, promote the different sectors, rebalance public aid by ensuring that the Mediterranean areas are better supported.” In this context the subject of water will of course be a hot topic. “Because we want to live at home, from our job.” Among the options, helping to adapt to climatic conditions but also supporting collective demands to create new water resources. The FDSE-JA program thus mentions the extension of Aqua domitia, hill reservoirs, drilling or the reuse of wastewater. “We are at a turning point. There will be a need for strong political will to remove regulatory and financial obstacles”remarks Ludovic Roux.

Response to Rural Coordination

Around him, headliners, some of whom were already there six years ago. Like Jean-Marie Fabre, president of the Independent Winegrowers of or Frédéric Rouanet president of the Aude winegrowers' union. There is also Jérôme Barthès, in second position on the list, president of the large crops commission at the FDSEA, who insists on “the reduction of costs and the simplification of administrative rules, profitability can come through this”. Newcomer, Timoléon Resneau, president of the Aude breeders' union, is part of the team. “We lack local meat, we want to boost local marketing. This will help support our only slaughterhouse.”

Finally, due to the electoral campaign, Ludovic Roux wanted to respond to the proposal “populist” of the Rural Coordination, which wishes to eliminate the allowances of elected representatives in the chamber. “The compensation is used to replace the farmer when he is not on his farm, otherwise there would only be daddy's boys. We have no shame in receiving this compensation.”
