The Fez administrative court recently handed down its judgment regarding a case involving a child who was bitten by a stray dog near his family’s home in Fez.
According to information obtained by the Info Site, the administrative court ordered financial compensation of 25,000 dirhams to the child’s family for the bodily damage suffered, at the expense of the municipality of Fez, due to its responsibility in the management and the fight against stray dogs, and its negligence in this area.
The judgment was handed down after the court took into account the seriousness of the injury suffered by the child on the thigh. A specialist doctor was appointed to examine the child’s condition and prepared a medical report detailing the extent of the damage and the rate of temporary incapacity of the child as a result of the dog bite.
The incident occurred when the child was playing on a pile of sand near a house under construction. A stray dog suddenly attacked him and bit him on the thigh, requiring him to be taken to hospital for treatment.
The child’s family claimed that the incident had caused significant damage affecting the victim, and filed a complaint with the court, demanding provisional compensation of 5,000 dirhams to cover immediate damage, as well as medical expertise for determine the level of disability resulting from the injury.
Subsequently, the court appointed a doctor to carry out the assessment, thus determining the extent of the damage.
