Puy-de-Dôme: a hamlet is still awaiting the reconstruction of its access road, cut off by last summer's storms

Auvergne people cut off from the world… or almost. Since July, the inhabitants of the place called Pont-Haut, dependent on the commune of Thiers (Puy-de-Dôme), have seen their main road become impossible to access. This follows a violent summer storm marked by torrential rains which severely damaged the track. These Puydômois can take a detour, but it is more than dangerous. “Already, we have to go fifteen kilometers more and the road is really unsuitable, because it is quite steep and even dangerous,” explains Paul Trioulier, one of the 26 residents condemned to having to wait.

If the retiree rails against the municipality for not moving quickly enough to resolve this problem, it is above all to meet the various needs of his neighbors. “A student who worked in the summer spent his entire paycheck in diesel because of the diversion. And we called the firefighters for a problem, they took 45 minutes to intervene compared to 15 usually, because they did not know the deviation,” regrets the resident.

So Paul Trioulier and other Thiernois invited themselves to the city's municipal council to make themselves heard. Faced with the imminent danger that winter represents, a season during which the diversion route becomes even more adventurous. “The delay would be linked to soil analyzes necessary to know how to restore the road,” reports Auvergnat. “But it shouldn't take that long.” »

According to the latest news, the situation should quickly find a happy outcome, after more than five months of “isolation” for the residents. When contacted, the municipality of Thiers did not respond to our requests.
