The most accident-prone level crossing in France has claimed a new victim.
It was 9:15 a.m. when a man who was trying to cross the tracks, while the barriers were down, was hit by a train of the line H of the Transilienat the Deuil–Montmagny station (Val-d'Oise).
Hit by a train
The emergency services were unable to do anything for the victim, aged 45. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by the Smur doctor.
Shocked, the train driver and the driver of a bus which was stopped in front of the level crossing, were transported in relative emergency to the Eaubonne hospital center.
The forty passengers on the train were taken care of by the Sncf.
Train traffic was interrupted in both directions on Transilien line H for three hours before being restored around 12:30 p.m.
Four fatal accidents
In fifteen years, nearly 70 accidents – including four fatalities – have taken place at this level crossing numbered 4 on line H.
Considered the most dangerous and accident-prone in France, Pn 4 must be removed in 2026. Work began last summer.
