Jaraaf is playing big. In the 4th day of the CAF Cup, the Senegalese club hosts Opera United FC from Botswana this Sunday, January 5 at the Abdoulaye Wade stadium at 4 p.m. GMT. A crucial match for the Medinese, 3rd in the standings with only 2 points taken in three outings. While the Botswanans are last with 2 units. USM Alger (1st, 7 points) and ASEC Mimosas (4 points) lead the way in this group.
Malick Daf, coach of Jaraaf, understands the stakes of this meeting. “We are going to play a very important match. A match that can lead us towards qualification. We know that there are not a thousand solutions. The only thing is to play and try to win,” assures Malick Daf in a pre-match press conference. He also adds. “We took a first step by qualifying for the group stages. Despite the difficult start, we have lost nothing. In this group, everything is still playable. It won’t be an easy match. But in football, nothing is impossible. You have to have self-confidence, remain humble, calm and work to win this match”
However, Jaraaf will not be able to count on its supporters. The club is in fact suspended by CAF for 4 matches behind closed doors, two of which are suspended. This follows the incidents of December 8 against USM Alger. But Malick Daf does not want to make this an excuse. “We would like to have our supporters. Playing in a packed stadium is motivating for a coach and the players (…). We have to focus on the match. Even without the fans, our goal is to win”;
