A look back at three highlights that marked the municipal year of Monteils (Tarn-et-Garonne): a prestigious competition, modern infrastructure and an ambitious project for children.

Last year, in the most diverse sectors, sequenced over several dates, three major events fueled the municipal life of Monteils (Tarn-et-Garonne).

In March, the 25 students from Audrey Cousinié's CM 1-CM 2 class took part in the national competition Tell me ten words. This event was part of the French Language and Francophonie Week, initiated by the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of National Education. Its main objective is to celebrate the French language and promote the richness of its vocabulary by choosing ten specific words selected by a national jury. Appropriately, the Olympic Games provided the theme for this edition. To compete, the class contextualized the project in the format of a video modeled on the physical activity of acrosport. Its audio support was based on the narrative diagram “The Letter to the Children of the Future”. After deliberation by the jury, the little Monteillais won first prize in the school category, cycle 3. The ceremony took place in , in the small meeting room of the French Academy, in the presence of many personalities around Xavier Darcos, chancellor of the Institut de . On their return, the schoolchildren were honored with the municipal medal by Mayor Christophe Massaloup.

The fire and rescue center

On October 25, some 60 firefighters moved into their new barracks, now called Quercy Caussadais. This structure was inaugurated on November 15, by the president of the departmental council and the board of directors of Sdis 82, Michel Weill, in the presence of the prefect Vincent Roberti; the director of Sdis 82, Olivier Théron; from the director of the center, Franck Betton. Among the other personalities present were the seven mayors of the municipalities concerned: Caussade, Monteils, Saint-Cirq, Saint-Vincent-d'Autéjac, Saint-Georges, Lapenche, Puylaroque. In terms of finances, the department and Sdis 82 were the first financiers, with €635,000 and €855,000 respectively. Caussade invested the sum of €573,000, the other municipalities participated in proportion to their population and their tax potential. As for the State, its services contributed €395,000. The overall cost of the investment amounts to 2.4 million euros.

The first stone of a children's home

On November 8, the Apprentis d'Auteuil foundation laid the symbolic first stone of its new Saint-Roch Children's House, in the presence of representatives of the structure, elected officials and qualified people. The result of close collaboration with the departmental council, this project responds to the growing needs in terms of child protection, while offering more individualized support. The three buildings of the new structure located opposite the Claude-Nougaro high school will be operational at the end of 2025.
