The French company NGE marks a new stage in its international expansion. The company has just announced that it has won a new railway contract in Morocco, an ambitious project led by the ONCF to modernize railway infrastructure and prepare for the arrival of the future high-speed line.
The French construction and engineering group NGE (New Generations of Entrepreneurs) has made a major breakthrough by winning a railway contract in Morocco. After a hotly contested call for tenders, the National Railway Office (ONCF) awarded the company a project worth 293.2 million dirhams. This project includes the doubling of the railway line between Moghora and Aïn Dalia, as well as the complete overhaul of the Ksar Sghir station.
Fierce competition
The tender process brought together several heavyweights in the sector, including TGCC, Jet Contractors, the Menasteel Industry/China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation group, as well as companies such as Sotradem, Univers Bat and Altatrav.
These actors offered amounts ranging between 324.8 million and 373.4 million dirhams. However, it was NGE’s offer, the lowest, which was accepted, ruling out any technically non-compliant offer.
Altatrav had submitted a proposal at 324.8 million dirhams, while TGCC, well known for its large-scale projects, had presented an offer peaking at 373.4 million dirhams.
The Menasteel Industry/China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation group, also in the running, had bet on an amount of 341.9 million dirhams. These proposals reflect the increased interest in railway development in Morocco.
A contribution to the modernization of the Moroccan railway network
The project awarded to NGE is part of a vast program to modernize and extend the Moroccan railway network, supported by the ONCF. It aims not only to improve the capacity and safety of existing lines, but also to prepare the ground for the arrival of the future high-speed line linking Kenitra to Marrakech.
The work, which will be carried out by NGE and its Moroccan subsidiary, includes earthworks, engineering structures and civil engineering operations. These improvements are essential to streamline rail flows between Tangier and the rest of the country, particularly on strategic axes such as Tangier-Fez and Tangier-Ras Rmel.
A strengthened local presence
Present in Morocco since the 1990s, NGE initially focused its activities on road infrastructure before diversifying. Its achievements include emblematic projects such as the Tanger Med viaduct, the Marrakech and Fquih Ben Salah wastewater treatment plants, as well as work related to telecommunications and drinking water networks.
This new rail contract consolidates the company’s local roots, while marking a strategic evolution towards sectors with higher added value. In addition to this 293.2 million dirham contract, NGE is also involved in lot 3 of the future Kenitra-Marrakech high-speed line.
This project, worth 1.117 billion dirhams, confirms the company’s desire to play a leading role in the country’s railway development. With these projects, NGE aims to become a partner of choice for Morocco in its transition strategy towards modern and ecological infrastructure.
“A previous contract recently announced”
On December 18, NGE also announced that it had won another major rail contract. This project concerns the extension of the line linking Kenitra to Marrakech as well as the development of the Casablanca rail hubs. Worth 1.117 billion dirhams, lot 3 of this project is part of the national strategy for modernizing railway infrastructure and supports the arrival of the future high-speed line (LGV).
According to Jean Bernadet, president of NGE, this contract illustrates the group’s commitment to responding to low-carbon mobility challenges while supporting Morocco’s economic growth.
“Our ambition is to build infrastructure adapted to the challenges of ecological transition. This project is a major opportunity for our teams, recognized for their expertise, to collaborate closely with the ONCF to achieve these ambitious objectives,” he declared.
The work, which will be spread over 40 months, includes studies, the removal and installation of railway tracks, the development of catenary systems, as well as earthworks, drainage, civil engineering and development operations. road. Five stations will be served in this context, including those of Nouaceur and Mohammed V airport, offering an interconnection with the future LGV.
Jean Bernadet, president of NGE, then declared that “supporting Morocco in the development of its railway infrastructure is a real source of pride for NGE”.
And to underline “this project reflects our commitment to promoting low-carbon mobility and contributing to the country’s economic growth.”
