A major outage is currently affecting Videotron telecommunications services in the Gatineau and Aylmer sectors.

Internet, Helix, illico and residential telephone services are affected.

According to an email from Videotron, the outage was the result of an act of vandalism that damaged an optical fiber. Repairs could take several hours.
