After a lackluster year in 2023, 2024 brings a smile back to Vaucluse with a clear increase in births. According to official figures, reported by La Provence, 5,892 babies were born in the department last year, compared to 5,483 in 2023. That is 409 more new little Vauclusians.
Maternity hospitals on the front line: Avignon and Carpentras in the lead
If the overall results are positive, certain maternity units have particularly stood out. HAS Avignonthe hospital was the first to celebrate this birth boom: 2,988 births in 2024or 31 more babies than the previous year. Carpentras follows closely with a modest but significant progression: 1,018 birthscompared to 1,007 in 2023. Even Cavaillon performed well, going from 444 to 462 babies welcomed.
Pertuis and Orange in slight decline
On the other hand, certain areas have not ridden this wave. In Pertuis, only 675 babies were born in 2024, compared to 691 in 2023. Same trend in Orange, which recorded 749 births, slightly down compared to the 765 the previous year.
Good news to start 2025
If the stork has been working overtime this year, let's hope it stays on course for 2025! In the meantime, congratulations to all the families and welcome to the new little inhabitants of Vaucluse.
