The wind is fresh, the sea is cold but the atmosphere is warm. This Wednesday, January 1, 2025, 630 New Year's bathers met at the end of the morning on the fine sand, in front of the Planches de Deauville.
Their choice: intrepid, eccentric or crazy, they did not hesitate when it came time to throw themselves into the Channel, at the stroke of midday, despite water at 9°, air at 11° and gusts of wind. “I'm in good shape, super toned, I'm not cold, maybe because I'm a little too excited“, confides a dynamic senior as she leaves the waves.

A New Year’s bather in Deauville
“It's unavoidableexplains another fan of this New Year's bath. It's well-being, relaxation, a way to start the year early, in a good mood and with happiness“. Before going to taste the water, the bathers even participated in a warm-up of around ten minutes, and listened to a reminder of the safety rules. Bad news should not taint this first festive event of the new year.
