There was no surprise. No Christmas miracle. But this decision, as predictable as it was, is nonetheless a final blow. The end of the hopes, even tiny, which still animated the players and staff of Tours FC. Which will therefore not dispute this 32e of the long-dreamed-of Coupe de France final against Lorient, as confirmed by the FFF Higher Appeals Commission, this Saturday, January 4, according to information from Amateur Football that we are able to confirm.
Tours FC held solely responsible for the fiasco
The meeting between Tours FC and the Lorientais was canceled just a few hours before kick-off, on Saturday December 21, due to organizational problems with the security service. Two days later, the Tourangeaux were declared losers on the green carpet.
The Ciel et Noir club then appealed this sanction, considering that this fiasco was not its sole responsibility and placing the blame on the security company Sud Ouest Sécurité (SOS). An argument which clearly did not convince the higher appeal committee of the French Football Federation, which therefore confirmed the initial decision of the federal commission.
6,000 tickets to be reimbursed
Tours FC will now have to reimburse the 6,000 tickets sold for the match, as Ivan Desmet, the owner of the club, committed to doing in a press release published on December 23: “In the event that this decision is confirmed, SASP Tours FC undertakes to reimburse tickets purchased online”he wrote then.
It remains to be seen whether he has the means to keep his word, while the club is in a critical financial situation… And is facing not one, but two financial liquidation procedures.
