Metropolis of Lyon. Where and when to throw your Christmas tree after the holidays?

The Christmas presents have barely been unwrapped when you already have to think about getting rid of your tree. No rush, the Métropole de is setting up collection points from January 6, so you still have a few days to enjoy your tree, unless it is already completely dried out.

Natural trees accepted, plastic ones prohibited

From January 6 to 18, 191 collection points will be installed in partnership with the voluntary municipalities and districts of the Lyon Metropolis. Residents will be able to leave their tree there, which will then be recycled and composted.

Natural fir trees with or without a wooden base and compostable fir bags marked “ok compost”, Handicap International bags and light brown corn starch bags are accepted.

However, plastic trees, plastic bags, plastic or earthen pots as well as Christmas garlands and decorations are not tolerated. The list of 191 collection points can be found on www.grandlyon.com/sapins

Please note that in addition to these collection points, residents can drop off their Christmas tree in one of the 19 recycling centers in the Lyon Metropolis.
