Senegal-Securite-Infrastructures / Ranérou: Birame Diop inaugurates the Surveillance and Intervention Squadron of the National Gendarmerie-Senegalese press agency

Ranerou, Jan 25 (APS) – The Minister of the Armed Forces, Birame Diop, inaugurated, Friday, the surveillance and intervention squadron of the national gendarmerie in Ranerou, in the region of Matam (North).

This infrastructure will help meet the ” security challenges ” of this area, including the fight against cattle and crime, according to him.

” Pôle par excellence of breeding in Senegal, the Ferlo area plays a crucial role in the national economy. It is nevertheless faced with security challenges, including crime, cattle theft, conflicts related to the scarcity of natural resources, due to desertification ”, said the Minister of the Armed Forces during the inauguration ceremony .

The governor of Matam, Said Dia, the general of Division Martin Faye, high commander of the national gendarmerie, and the local authorities took part in the inauguration ceremony.

Birame Diop assured Ranerou populations of the will of the country’s authorities to improve national security, including in this part of the country where insecurity is strongly linked to breeding activities.

” The establishment of this squadron confirms the permanent posture of the national gendarmerie, which consists in providing an adapted response to delinquency which threatens the development of socio -economic activities, peace and public tranquility ” said the Minister of Forces armies.

He invited the populations and the local elected officials of the department of Ranérou to maintain a close and permanent collaboration with the security services, to help them exercise their missions.

” This five-hectare area has been built to offer a friendly work environment ” to the gendarmes, he added.

The inaugurated book houses offices and leisure areas.
