2024: a year that left its mark
The year 2024 was rich in emotions, shared with you in all territories around three great moments.
The Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games were the most followed in history. The world vibrated to the rhythm of the events, in the exceptional setting that the French capital provided. Thank you to our athletes and visitors for making this moment a celebration!
After the Olympic and Paralympic Games, France hosted the 19th Francophonie Summit on October 4 and 5, 2024. A first in thirty-three years. The International Organization of the Francophonie and its 93 member states and governments have a crucial role in building a united, innovative, committed and resolutely forward-looking Francophonie.
The reopening of Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral was, perhaps, the high point of the end of 2024. In a unique moment, the world witnessed the rebirth of a masterpiece of French heritage . Notre-Dame once again welcomes visitors from all over the world, thanks to a prodigious international mobilization and the know-how of French artisans.
2025: France leader of an engaged world
In 2025, France will host three major summits and will be the guide to international collaboration that is stronger than ever.
Summit for Action on Artificial Intelligence
On February 10 and 11, 2025, we will host the Summit for Action on Artificial Intelligence (AI), bringing together governments, international organizations, businesses of all sizes, academics, artists and all of society in Paris civil. This Summit will focus on concrete actions to ensure that the development and deployment of AI benefits our societies, our economies and the environment. It is in the general interest and respect for the common good.
Nutrition for Growth Summit
The year 2025 marks the end of the United Nations decade of action on Nutrition. France will host the next edition of the “Nutrition for Growth” Summit in Paris on March 27 and 28, 2025, a crucial opportunity to continue the dynamic initiated in Japan in 2021.
This high-level summit will advocate for ambitious financial and political commitments and promote dialogue among diverse actors around the world in support of nutrition and to achieve the goals set by the Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development United.
Third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC-3)
France and Costa Rica are organizing the third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC-3) from June 9 to 13, 2025. Ten years after COP21 and the Paris Agreement, this conference will bring together all the United Nations member states, specialized agencies, civil society, the private sector and international donors to respond to ocean challenges.
This third edition has the main theme: “Accelerate action and mobilize all stakeholders to conserve and sustainably use the ocean”. It will strengthen the protection and sustainable use of the ocean, seas and their resources, and contribute to implementing the priorities of Sustainable Development Goal 14 (SDG 14) dedicated to the ocean. UNOC-3 will be a decisive step in establishing new governance for the ocean.
