New Year's Eve was not easy in Finistère for the security and emergency forces. The Finistère prefecture reports that 700 firefighters were mobilized during this evening during which 64 interventions were carried out across the department and 613 calls received. There were around ten vehicle and trash can fires in Brest and one trash fire in Quimper. In the gendarmerie zone, 276 gendarmes were on the ground. Of the 533 vehicles checked, 50 offenses were noted, including seven driving under the influence of alcohol with a misdemeanor rate, sixteen with a fine rate and two driving under drugs.
An arrest for mortar fire
In the police zone, the 56 personnel mobilized carried out fourteen road check operations for a total of 191 vehicles checked. The police issued seven tickets and arrested two drivers for driving under drugs and driving while drunk. Furthermore, a person was arrested for mortar fire in the Morlaix sector.
