His last public appearances date back to the summer of 2024, notably during the passing of the Olympic flame in Yonne (July 11). An event that was close to his heart, and supported in large part by the departmental council that he chaired. Patrick Gendraud (Various right) appeared there in his stronghold, in Chablis, weakened because he was ill. It was carried away on the night of December 31, 2024 to January 1, 2025.

The former mayor of Chablis (from 2001 to 2017) withdrew from political affairs in the summer of 2023, for health reasons, leaving his first vice-president Grégory Dorte to lead the debates in the council. departmental. The president, however, made his political comeback in September 2023.

35 years of political commitment

Then, Patrick Gendraud again remained discreet during the campaign for the legislative elections of June 2024 and missed the sessions of the departmental council of June 28 and October 18, 2024.

Nevertheless, he, during this period, reaffirmed his authority, in particular by withdrawing his delegations to the mayor of Migennes François Boucher, in conflict with André Villiers. As if to prove that, even when ill, he still held the bar.

Patrick Gendraud will have left his mark on Italian politics over the last four decades. From his election as municipal councilor of Courgis (Chablisien) in 1979, to his two terms as president of the general council of Yonne, the man served several center and right-wing parties.

Patrick Gendraud was 72 years old.
