The Minister of Health, Amine Tahraoui, announced an 88% increase in teaching places in the faculties of medicine, pharmacy and dentistry in 2024 compared to 2019. This growth is part of a plan aimed at creating 7,543 new places by 2027, with a budget of more than 3 billion DH, with the aim of strengthening the health workforce by 2030.

For nurses and health technicians, educational places in the bachelor’s degree increased by 206% in 2024, reaching 8,360 places, while the master’s cycle increased by 353% with 680 places between 2020 and 2024. By 2029 , the objective is set at 11,900 educational places.

The ministry also plans the creation of 16 research teams and 4 laboratories in the Higher Institutes of Nursing and Technical Health Professions (ISPITS), as well as a gradual increase in positions for resident specialist doctors over five years.

These measures aim to increase the ratio of health professionals from 18 per 10,000 inhabitants in 2022 to 45 per 10,000 in 2030, in accordance with WHO standards. Furthermore, budget items for the recruitment of health executives have increased, from 4,000 in 2019 to 6,500 planned for 2025.

To compensate for regional disparities, the government is adopting decentralized and flexible management of human resources, while strengthening territorial health groups, with the aim of ensuring health services that meet citizens’ expectations.
