Artificial Intelligence (AI). Let’s talk about it. Since this technology is about to control our way of being, of doing, and I don’t know what else. In short, it shapes our existence. Yes, for good and for bad. If this technology raises a lot of debate, it is because it amazes as much as it frightens.
For some it is an adversary to men. For others, it is a tool that helps them. Its benefits, in all areas of our lives, are undeniable. Whether it’s health, education, the economy… In the 21st century, almost no one can do without it. Its use has become more than a necessity.
In businesses in particular, it makes it possible to combine performance and time optimization, given that with this technology it is possible to carry out many more daily tasks thanks to the automation of many simple actions. In short, the machine facilitates man’s work. She can even replace him. Basically, what is Artificial Intelligence?
According to the website wizishop.fr, “it is a process of imitating human intelligence which is based on the creation and application of algorithms executed in a dynamic computing environment. Its goal is to enable computers to think and act like human beings.” In other words, Artificial Intelligence is a set of theories and techniques aimed at creating machines capable of simulating human intelligence.
So, if Artificial Intelligence must simulate human intelligence, or even replace it, will it not make it lazy, useless and even threaten its existence?
Should we hack the human mind to produce more and better, monitor people’s every move? What will happen if the machine becomes detracted, especially in the military domain? On July 8, 2024, News JVTech reported a warning from James Cameron, the director of “Terminator”. The latter warned of the progress and dangers of Artificial Intelligence, particularly militarized, and called for international regulation. “I warned you in 1984 and no one listened,” James Cameron said.
The threat to human security, their privacy, and even their humanity, cannot therefore be ruled out. One thing is certain, AI threatens job creation in our states. Added to this is a whole other, even more serious concern, that of ethics, because, the researchers recognize, the critical point linked to Artificial Intelligence lies in its impact on ethics and society.
AI can, in fact, undermine our values, our rights, our standards and our behaviors. In addition, it is a potential source of conflicts through manipulation. The dilemma is difficult, given that we cannot turn our back on technological development. But, as François Rabelais reminded us: “science without conscience is only ruin of the soul”. The machine, yes, but the human first.
