Poitiers: fireworks and trash cans in Couronneries and Trois-Cités
New Year's Eve was marked by trash fires and several fireworks in two neighborhoods of Poitiers after midnight.
The night of New Year's Eve was a little agitated in two districts of Poitiers for the transition to the year 2025. A little after midnight, several fireworks were observed in the Trois-Cités district, in shopping center level and in nearby bars.
Several trash cans set on fire
At 12:30 a.m., several trash cans were overturned and set on fire on rue de la Clouère and in the park alley, in the Couronneries district. Firefighters intervened to put out the fires. Fireworks were also observed at Place de Provence.
Several police crews intervened very quickly. They increased their presence around the blocks of buildings and checked young people present in a car in Coimbra Square, a little before 1 a.m. There were no large crowds. The situation clearly boiled down to a game of cat and mouse with the police.
