Follow the Marne
The new year comes with its share of changes, starting with a major change in public transport prices.
Until now, occasional travelers who wanted to go to Paris from a station in Seine-et-Marne had to pay €5 per trip (or €4 if you bought a book of 10 tickets) by purchasing an origin-destination ticket .
Ticket price halved
From now on, from Thursday January 2, 2025, it will only cost you 2,50 €.
Île-de-France Mobilités is setting up a ticket uniquewhatever your means of transport, whether it is metro, train or RER. For Seine-et-Marnais, the cost of the trip to Paris or any other station in the Ile-de-France region is therefore divided by two.
Conversely, the price of the metro ticket therefore ultimately increases since it is now set at 2,50 €.
The objective of Valérie Pécresse, president of Île-de-France Mobilités, is to complete “the logic of rezoning in Île-de-France. Residents of the outer suburbs will pay the same price as the city center. It’s the end of geographical borders and financial barriers to transport,” she assures.
As for bus and tram journeys, they will cost €2, regardless of the location and distance traveled.
A Liberty + pass
Another novelty of this new year: the expansion of the map Freedom +. Until now reserved for travelers from Paris Intramural, its use is extended to the entire Île-de-France. The objective is to stop the use of cardboard tickets, which consume energy to produce, and which can be dematerialized very easily, so that travelers, even occasional travelers, turn to this pass for which Île-de-France Mobilités has granted a certain number of advantages: only the journeys made are invoiced, tickets are discounted by 20% (i.e. 1.99 euros instead of 2.50 euros for the metro-train-RER and 1.60 euros compared to 2 euros for the bus-tram).
This pass is issued at the station or on the Île-de-France Mobilités website. It will be dematerialized on smartphones in the spring.
The Navigo pass more expensive in 2025
While occasional travelers have every reason to rejoice at these decisions, everyday travelers experienced the end of the year as a new punishment. On December 11, Île-de-France Mobilités confirmed the increase in the price of the Navigo pass. It now costs 88.80 euros per monthcompared to 86.40 euros in 2024.
Note that cardboard tickets are in their final year. They will still be valid in 2025 but after that, it will be over.
