Lessay Fair in Manche: the price of the entry bracelet increases by one euro

In Lessay (Manche), the Sainte- fair became chargeable in 2023. People not residing in the town then had to pay two euros to obtain a bracelet giving access to the three days of the event. For the 2025 edition, a new change is taking place: the price will increase by one euro, from two to three. The announcement was made by Stéphanie Maubé, mayor of Lessay, during the wishes of the municipality, presented on December 27, 2024.

“We don’t always realize it. This fair seems spontaneous when you don't experience it from the inside, but it represents an enormous amount of work over more than a year for each edition.indicated the elected official. The overall cost of the organization amounts to €435,000. Many of these are costs related to safety and health. The 2024 edition brought out a profit of €22,000, despite an early end: on Sunday September 8 in the afternoon, unpackers and visitors had deserted the usually well-filled aisles, due to the wind and rain .

“She must remain profitable”

Within the municipal council, the rate increase was a source of debate. “We are all attached to the popular dimension of this fair. Ideally, we would like it to remain free, but economic considerations and the principle of reality mean that for us, this fair must absolutely not become loss-making. She must remain profitable, even if it is a small amount. The increase in the entrance fee to three euros will allow us to be one step ahead of the increases in organizational costs in 2025”announced Stéphanie Maubé.

Lessay Fair, from September 12 to 14, 2025. Free for residents of Lessay and children under twelve years old.
