Welcome to this live broadcast dedicated to the visit of members of the government to Mayotte. The Prime Minister, François Bayrou, and his delegation arrived Monday at 5:40 a.m. local time (3:40 a.m. Paris time) in Mayotte for a one-day visit, two weeks after the passage of Cyclone Chido, which devastated the 'island.
Criticized for having attended a crisis meeting remotely in Mayotte in order to participate in a municipal council in Pau, François Bayrou has worked hard since then. On Christmas Day, he chaired a meeting by videoconference, from Pau, with some ministers devoted to the issues of housing and reconstruction. A new meeting was held Thursday in Matignon before the Prime Minister's trip.
The head of government is accompanied by Elisabeth Borne, Minister of National Education, Manuel Valls, Minister for Overseas Territories, as well as the Ministers of Housing, Valérie Létard, of Health, Yannick Neuder, and the Minister Delegate to the French-speaking world and former senator from Mayotte, Thani Mohamed Soilihi.
Mr. Bayrou will spend Monday in Mayotte before flying to Reunion, where he will end his visit on Tuesday, before returning to the metropolis.
