A bean bearing the image of firefighters and 1 euro donated to orphans for each galette des rois sold in this Haute- bakery

This is a first for Axel and Fanny, artisan bakers and pastry chefs in Vieille-Brioude. On the occasion of the Epiphany celebration, for each Galette des Rois sold, the Brivadoise bakery will donate €1 to the association Œuvre des wards orphans and mutual aid fund of French firefighters (ODP). The latter supports children whose parent, a firefighter, has died on or off duty.

Beans that should please collectors

The owners of this bakery wanted to do a good deed on the occasion of Epiphany which begins at the beginning of January. And like every year, different beans are offered to stand out. “We said to ourselves that for this year, it might be good to make beans bearing the image of firefighters,” rewinds Fanny, proud of her little “Made in ” statuettes. And added: “Plus, there are a lot of people who like to collect items related to firefighters! »

Currently, 27 orphans of firefighters who live in the Haute- department benefit from the support of the ODP. And these donations can also be used by firefighters who find themselves in difficulty. “For example, firefighters living in Mayotte and whose homes have been damaged will be able to obtain help thanks to this fund,” explains Lieutenant Samuel Teste, vice-president of the Departmental Union of Haute-Loire Firefighters. .

Between 800 and 900 cakes sold

Since it opened four years ago, the bakery has sold between 800 and 900 galettes des rois throughout the month of January, “but this year, we hope that we will sell even more, to give more money to the firefighters,” wishes Fanny.
