During the last municipal council of the year 2024, the inclusion of wash houses in the additional Heritage inventory was mentioned by Mayor Samuel Le Gaouyat.

A regional service

The additional heritage inventory is a service of the Region which allows the census of wash houses via the GLAD online application.
The Region has been driving a partnership dynamic for several years and inviting communities, associations, universities or independent researchers to conduct their own heritage inventory operation and this application makes it possible to open contributions to all, while remaining committed to the methodology. scientific specific to the discipline of Heritage Inventory.

One notice per washhouse

William Lozac'h, recruited by the City as project manager for three years, will soon carry out an initial inventory by establishing one notice per washhouse including a photo of the building visible from the river and a description. Generally speaking, the information collected makes it possible to contextualize the heritage object, whatever it may be, to name it, locate it, illustrate it, describe it and date it.

“The heritage inventory has only documentary and non-regulatory value,” notes the mayor.

This inventory operation will then serve as the basis for the joint project between the city and the “Nos Lavoirs” association.

It appears today that a new phase of restoration of these buildings is necessary in order to continue the work already undertaken since the creation of the association in 1991.

A letter to all owners

The city and the association have therefore previously come together around the common project of relaunching a dynamic of restoration of these public and private wash houses. This project would require important archival work with the assistance of the Heritage Foundation and the architects of Bâtiments de .

A communication will be sent to everyone from the beginning of January the owners of the wash housesinviting them to a meeting during February, in order to present to them the different areas of possible financial support, as well as a set of shared elements. “The inventory of this common heritage could be a first step towards possible inclusion in the historical heritage”, concludes Samuel Le Gaouyat.
