The members of the High Court of Justice were officially installed this Saturday, December 28, 2024. This institution, responsible for judging the highest authorities of the State, is now fully operational.
The High Court of Justice is made up of 8 full judges and 8 substitute judges, who took the oath in front of the chamber after reading the texts by the President of the National Assembly, Malick Ndiaye.

Governed by the Senegalese Constitution and Organic Law No. 2002-10 of February 22, 2002, the High Court of Justice is a pillar of democratic governance.
It is composed of judges elected by the National Assembly and chaired by the First President of the Supreme Court, assisted by the President of the Criminal Chamber of the same court. The Public Prosecutor’s Office is represented by the Attorney General at the Supreme Court, supported by the First Attorney General.
The High Court of Justice’s mission is to judge the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, ministers and their accomplices in cases of high treason or conspiracy against state security.
This institution aims to play a role in holding the highest authorities of the State accountable and in consolidating the rule of law in Senegal, thus strengthening confidence in the judicial system and in public institutions.
