They were sold, bought back, and faced a layoff plan. Today the boilermaking company based in Digulleville (Manche) Fives Nordon ACPP is in the news, not for his difficulties but for career longevity of several of its employees.

The 1^is December 2024On the day of Saint Eloi, the patron saint of blacksmiths, the company organized a drink at the Café du théâtre de Cherbourg in honor of its oldest employees. 17 celebrated a medal and four toasted their retirement.

A family atmosphere

Catherine Lahaye spent 38 years as welding coordinator. The only woman in the department. She has experienced the good times of the company, and the most difficult.

I had to prove myself, but it always went very well with respect and trust. It was a very family business, with a spirit of camaraderie.

When she arrived, it was the beginning of construction of UP3, and the company was overwhelmed by work. Years also experienced by Patricia Lecerf, who is enjoying her retirement after 42 years of service, or Reynald Poussard, 40 years in business.

“I started at ACPP as as temporary and I have finished my career inasmuch as production managerso I climbed each rung. It was a really good company where there was opportunities to evolve », he explains.

Great prospects hoped for

“And a good atmosphere,” admits Patricia Lecerf. These are moreover colleagueswhich the new retiree Bruno Savary misses. After 20 years at ACPP and notably in the design officehe now benefits from his family in maisonor his jardin. But he assures him, “it was never a chore to come to work”.

It is this family atmosphere that has always convinced them to stay in difficult times . Moments now past, they hope.

The four retirees dare to consider beautiful prospects for their colleagues with the projects announced in La Hague. Even if everyone regrets the time when ACPP “was leaderof the nuclear boilermaking».
