After exploring designer markets and pop-up boutiques for five years, Rokhaya opened in mid-November in the heart of Croix-Rousse Classichic, a boutique that celebrates African fabrics through modern, vibrant and colorful creations.
Unique pieces, each telling a story
The realization of a dream for this young 34-year-old Senegalese graduate of Sup'de Com and always passionate about fashion and entrepreneurship.
“My goal is to create a universe that combines the best of ethnic traditions and modern chic. I work with African fabrics such as Wax, Bogolan, woven loincloth or Kokodunda, all handmade, to create unique pieces that reflect a mix of modernity and authenticity. Each piece made tells a story, that of crossbreeding, artisanal know-how and contemporary style,” explains the founder of the brand.
Some of the fabrics are made in Africa, in partnership with local artisans, in order to promote ancestral know-how.
A mix of cultures
The collections are then made in the Lyon region, in collaboration with artisan tailors. Colorful adult and children's collections that vary according to the rhythm of each season.
“In the clothing line, the three-season bomber jacket remains the brand's best-seller,” underlines the designer, who at the same time designs and imagines a whole line of accessories (backpacks, bracelets, jewelry, fanny packs, tote bags , etc.) combining audacity and authenticity.
