On Christmas Eve, the main quest is to find the famous log to finish your meal. For the lucky ones, they will taste for the holidays that of the Ô Gourmandises d'Ange pastry shop, located in Puteaux (Hauts-de-Seine), and which won the prize of best log in the departmentFriday December 20, 2024. This first edition of the “Signature des Hauts-de-Seine” log competition was organized by the departmental council and the departmental chamber of trades and crafts (CMA92).
A log as a nod to a tale
In a magical atmospherewith cups and teapots hanging from the ceiling like Alice in Wonderland, Élodie and Olivier Geoffroy, the winners, opened their store 8 years ago. “We participate in competitions for several years and we have already received distinctions,” smiles Élodie. In this case, a silver medal and a bronze medal, during previous editions of the “Imagine the Hauts-de-Seine cake” competition.
Remaining faithful to the magical universe from their tea room, the couple imagined a log inspired by the Nutcracker tale, a story dear to Élodie. This is a soft, pecan-flavored cookie topped with a vanilla mousse and a pear heart with Tchuli pepper, all topped with a miniature Nutcracker man in caramel. “A two-part dessert, ideal for sharing,” describes Élodie.
The log, marketed since a few weeks only, has already had great success. “Since our gold medal, people have been rushing to order it,” she rejoices. Unfortunately, it will not be no longer available for Christmas, but will be on sale again between December 27 and 31. “All our creations are made to order to avoid waste,” specifies the pastry chef.
