SNCF: the Paris-Briançon night train disrupted for work during winter 2025

Connecting the capital to various railway stations located in the Hautes-Alpes department (05), the Intercités night line will be disrupted throughout the winter of 2025: we take stock of the closure dates.

Falling asleep in to wake up in the heart of the mountains: this is the concept of the line night trains linking Paris to Briançonwith stops planned in several stations in Hautes-Alpes (, Argentière-la-Bessée…). Already somewhat criticized by its regular users, who regret numerous delays on the line, traffic on this line will be disrupted again in January, February and March 2025, due to work.

Commissioned on weekends only (including Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday evenings) or every day during school holidaysthe line of night train linking Paris to Briançon (or Briançon in Paris in the other direction) is particularly popular with Parisians looking for a weekend in the mountains or even residents of the Hautes-Alpes to go to the capital while optimizing their time as much as possible. In January, February and March 2025the line will be disrupted due to work carried out by the SNCF in the Drôme, according to Alpes 1 Mag, with the impossibility of branching off to reach all the stations usually served.

Closure dates for the Paris-Briançon line:

  • Saturday January 11
  • Monday 27, Tuesday 28, Wednesday 29, Thursday 30 January
  • Saturday 1st, Monday 3rd, Tuesday 4th, Wednesday 5th, Thursday 6th, Saturday 8th February
  • Friday 7, Saturday 8, Sunday 9, Monday 10, Tuesday 11, Wednesday 12, Thursday 13 March
  • Saturday 15, Sunday 16, Monday 17, Tuesday 18, Wednesday 19, Thursday 20 March
  • Saturday 22, Sunday 23, Monday 24, Tuesday 25, Wednesday 26, Thursday 27, Saturday 29, Monday 31 March

To compensate for the lack of night trains over the period, the SNCF will put in place substitute coaches : a less comfortable option, but which can greatly help outdoor enthusiasts in need of the mountains!
